7th and 8th Grade:

I hope you all had a wonderful Spring Break! I'll be back tomorrow.

Today, you'll be watching a video about solving equations by doing the same operation each side. We have already worked on this a bit before Spring Break, so this is kind of a review. If you didn't understand it before, hopefully this will help!

After you watch the video, you will complete a worksheet on your own. If you need help, you can ask someone sitting near you, but you are to complete this on your own.

If you finish the worksheet for the video, ask the sub for a coloring page. This will allow you to practice solving two-step equations (and it's kinda fun)! You can finish the coloring worksheet on Friday if you don't finish it today. The only thing due tomorrow is the worksheet from the video.

Pi Day Ideas

A lot of you weren't sure what you could do for Pi Day (March 14th), so I've put together some links to different ideas that other people have done. Please DO NOT copy someone else's idea exactly... make it your own! Remember that these projects will be worth up to 25 points, so put some effort into it to get the most points!

OneNote Update

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break. I know I really enjoyed the time with my family and friends!

I just wanted to update you all and let you know that you can now find the link to the OneNote Notebook (the one that will contain the notes we take during class) at the top of this blog. The link is right under the title, next to the "About Ms. Smith" tab. Hopefully this will make it easy to find!

Microsoft OneNote

Happy Friday, everyone!

I want to apologize for not posting things as regularly as at the beginning of the year. I'm looking for ways to improve on that so it doesn't take as much time (for me) and so I don't forget to do it. 

I'm beginning to look into note-taking using Microsoft OneNote and thought I would make it available to everyone (click here to view the class notebook)! This would give me the opportunity to share the notes we take in class so that everyone (parents and students included) would have the opportunity to access them and use them (instantly!!). I'll continue to consider and develop this idea to see what other kinds of things it may be useful for!

We also have the class Instagram account now - visit us at @wgjhmath! I'm hoping to post pictures of the students working during class, projects they are doing, and reminders/announcements about things happening in class (like tests, homework, etc.). Everything announced on Instagram will also be mentioned in class (so if a student doesn't have an Instagram account, they won't be left out)!

7th grade, remember that you need to turn in your candy wrapper scale factor projects on Monday if you didn't get them done on time. This is a big grade, so don't forget!
